Redemption. Nothing personal word of the day is redemption. We could all use some one

year ago today Virginia got it. Yet the Cavaliers. That's the team. Do you remember? Can you

actually name who won the NCAA tournament one year ago today? It seems like a decade

ago. A decade ago Virginia won the NCAA title two decades ago or as some people used to refer

to it as two years ago Virginia lost in the first round as a number one seed. So a number

sixteen seed beat a number one seed the following year at same number one seed won the whole

damn thing. I would say that is the definition of redemption. I've been thinking a lot about

what that word means these days and times. Teams use it. It's like bulletin board material. We want

redemption. We want revenge. We want to win this game. Win this season. Win this series. Win

this title. I wonder whether in this era of one and done like in college basketball that there

is that sense of redemption when it's such a different core of players. We used to have it that

way in Major League Baseball when we would have a bad streak against a team. You'd often hear this

basketball too like an East Coast West Coast team where you only play once a year. Let's say the

Nick's only play once a year in Los Angeles. You know the Nick's have not beaten the Lakers in 12 years.

Guess what? The current Nick's locker room doesn't care about that. They weren't around 12 years ago.

Or if the Marlins had won seven out of nine in the last two years against the Phillies. Does that mean

that the current locker room cares? No. We never used that word redemption a lot in sports. But it's

always used only in the past tense. Never. Hey, let's seek redemption. Redemption redemption is

something you get. Not something you seek. I wonder what kind of redemption Tom Brady is going to get.

We've spoken so much about Tom Brady. You know very well where he is. Don't you? Yes, you do. He is
