Hello, I'm Nulam McGovron, bringing you coronavirus global conversations here on the BBC World Service.

Today we're sharing conversations across five continents bringing together

residents from Wuhan China, researchers in Antarctica, health workers from

Europe and North America, and two farmers in Africa who discuss why some of them are facing

extraordinarily difficult choices. It's better to be killed by Corona than to be

killed by hunger because these people really have to go and work so that they can

feel their families.

The Chinese authorities have ended the 76 day lockdown in the city of Wuhan.

Isaac, who's American, lives in Wuhan as he teaches English at a university there.

This is how freedom tasted for Isaac on the first day after lockdown.

Oh it's been great. The weather was great. I went on a very long walk and I went to

some of the coffee shop areas that I usually go to and I actually got to go to a

Starbucks but they weren't accepting people into the sitting room but a very nice girl working there outside helped me set up an app and

she delivered my coffee while I was sitting outside.

And it was just great walking around.

I could definitely feel people sort of coming alive.

I passed a restaurant, you know, again,

they weren't allowing people to sit inside,

but there was kind of a sitting area outside and people were out there talking and

sitting and it was just very nice to to see things at least coming alive a little
