I want to begin myself by just taking a breath, a deep breath, so we do that with me.

touching bark is always a way to ground myself, just reminds me that I'm a living thing on

this planet and there's so many ways that the living part is created, I suppose, I can hear

three, two and one, feel like today I'm beginning on a bit of a somber note, I'm recording

this on Friday, the ninth maybe, now I've got to be more than that, 12th, 10th, 11th somewhere

and when I wake up this morning I was just texting last night with one of my friends who

lives in the Hiner, in Maui, I'm just so thankful he was safe, I hadn't heard from him and

he lost his home, lost his business but he was okay and he was positive despite all

this going on and if you don't know what's going on in the Hiner, this beautiful town, there's

other fires every day, everywhere but we don't really see them as other global disasters or other

climate-related disasters all over the world but we don't see them because they usually in the global

south, so you know I don't want to make this like it's a once in a lifetime thing because it is

happening every day, there's climate-related disasters going on and you probably see some of them

yourself in your own towns, you probably have, we definitely have things to see here and take notice

but Lahaina is a very very special place to me and it's gone, it's practically banned to the ground

from wildfires, of course the media is just saying what caused this to which, well of course this is

exceptionally dry land by climate change and high winds, probably related to climate change from

the, I think it was only by hurricane, so I just feel sad getting to the field park today but early
