nationwide children's, here is your host, Dr. Mike. Hello everyone, and welcome. Once again to

PDACast. It's a pediatric podcast for moms and dads. This is Dr. Mike, coming to you from the campus of

nationwide children's hospital. We're in Columbus, Ohio. It's episode 394 for January 18th, 2018.

We're calling this one toddler tantrums, eye injuries, and a childhood mortality. I want to welcome all of you to the program.

We have an information-packed show lined up for you this week.

The title of the episode gives you a little hint on the topics,

and I'll provide more details, especially on those toddler tantrums,

and a full rundown of what's coming your way in just a couple of minutes.

First, though,

the flu is now widespread across most of the United States, including here in Ohio. There's still

regional involvement, which is one step below widespread in a few states, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey,

and Hawaii, and only local activity in the District of Columbia.

But that won't last long. You know, it's only going to take a plane with a couple people with

the flu on it, flying out to Hawaii, and then you're going to have it all over widespread there.

And same place in New England, the District of Columbia. It's coming your way, folks.

But right now, flu is officially widespread, just about everywhere.

That's the highest rating that's put out by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which means, to put it more simply, we are knee-deep in flu season all across the United States of America.

So I thought this would be a good time for an influenza reminder in case the

flu visits your home in the coming days or weeks. The first thing I want to remind you,

we've covered the flu on this program many times in the past. So that's why this is a reminder.
