It's been 30 years since I first met Todd Lebo,

and let me tell you, first impressions are not everything.

When Todd became an intern at Channel 4,

I thought he was lippy, over the top, and talked too much.

What was I thinking?

Was I looking in the mirror and didn't like what I saw? I quickly learned he's brilliant,

hardworking, and has tremendous journalism instincts. When it came time to form Kansas City's first all-sports radio station, I told my partners we couldn't do it without bringing in Todd

Lebo, who was out of the business

at the time. Todd and I sat down. We outlined what was important for Kansas City Sports Radio

audience, things that had never been talked about before on the radio. Todd said, first thing,

it's imperative we bring in college football and basketball, not just the pro teams. I said,

I think it's imperative. We do live breaking

sports news as it happens and break our own stories. He told me to let the caller speak. Don't talk

over him. He told me, don't worry about getting a bunch of guests on, as most of them suck

anyway. He had it right, right from the start. The two of us outlined what would be a perfect match between friends and

collaborators that led to the longest running, highest rated, most profitable sports show in Kansas

City history. I think most people that listened understood how important Todd was to our success.

If not, let me say it right now. It never would have worked without Todd Lebo and the business never would
