Morning everybody, welcome along to your free podcast. Wednesday the 22nd November. Sad, sad, sad, sad. I don't like starting with sad things, but it kind of sort of gets it out of the way because, mainly because I met him once, and B, because I knew how big a star he was.

0:23.1

And C, because he'd done everything in his life.

0:27.1

And I'm referring, of course, to David Cassidy, who died age 67.

0:31.1

We just don't see them as being 67 because of television and because of film and because of the photos.

0:37.3

You can still live

0:38.7

David Cassidy's life again when he was, you know, a terribly, terribly pretty boy with

0:45.3

the long hair. But really, that wasn't him at all. That was just the image that the public

0:50.6

had of him in the Partridge family. The story of a family who went out on tour and they played college dates and all the rest of it.

1:17.3

were brought in and they were with him that he was, he was battling against that. It was organ

1:22.1

failure. Also, he had dementia. I think for the last two months, he, uh, he'd been sort of going steadily downhill. It's just

1:29.1

that you sort of, you sort of think to yourself, you know, you'd be so thrilled, David, to realize

1:34.0

that people were, were talking about you, because he was an icon in the 70s. When he came over to

1:39.0

this country, he was huge. I mean, girls were screaming and crying, and he had lots of hits,

1:50.8

and you'll probably go on to YouTube and type in David Cassidy, and come up with loads and loads of hit singles. How can I be sure?

2:02.9

Daydry. Oh, he had, oh, God, there were so many blooming hit singles. And they were all done in this sort of breathy, sexy kind of way. The other person that we lost as well was Rodney Buse. Now for people of a certain age,

2:07.2

you'll know Rodney Bues because out of all the things he did in his life, he'll forever be remembered for the likely lads. The likely lads where he played Bob Ferris, together with James Bollum.
