Man About The House was a British sitcom from the year 1973 that ran all the way until

1976.

The show went something like this.

Chrissy and Joe lived in a London flat together and worked for the same firm.

The women find a stranger, student chef Robin Trip, asleep in their bathtub the morning after

the going away party for their departed flatmate, Eleanor.

The two girls are impressed with Robin's culinary skills as they cannot cook at all.

Learning that Robin has been staying at the YMCA, they convince him to move in.

On the understanding that it will be a completely platonic relationship.

But Chrissy has to tell landlord George Roper that Robin is gay.

Wait a minute.

Chrissy.

Mr. Roper?

Gay roommate?

That sure sounds an awful lot like three's company.

It is three's company.

Our beloved American program was based on this earlier British sitcom Man About The House.

Well, the Brits may have had their Chrissy first.

But we Americans had the definitive Chrissy and her name was Suzanne Summers.

She was the gold standard of Chrissy's.
