Black Angus Steakhouse is an American restaurant chain that specializes in steaks and it's

headquartered in Burbank, California because naturally, Burbank is the first city one thinks

The chain was founded on April 3rd, 1964 by Stuart Anderson of Seattle, Washington.

Anderson was raised up in Seattle and well-to-do circumstances.

You see, his father was a successful orthopedic surgeon during the Great Depression, but

Stuart went and left Seattle to join the United States Army during World War II, driving

tanks in General George S. Patton's Third Army.

After the war, Anderson returned to Seattle and bought a hotel, the Caledonia.

He bought that hotel in order to circumvent the state's blue laws so he could sell alcohol

in the hotel bar, which he called the ringside room.

Around 1960, he opened a restaurant there and called it the French Quarter.

But in 1962, it was remade with the Klondike Gold Rush theme for the 1962 World Fair and

renamed the Gold Coast.

But finally, in 1964, it was renamed again to Stuart Anderson's Black Angus.

Eventually, though, Black Angus became a chain with over 100 restaurants, which Anderson

Now in June 6th, 2016, Stuart Anderson died in his home at the age of 93.
