Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Now maybe you've never thought about it, but the mass is the greatest way to thank God

to express our gratitude to Him.

Now there were all kinds of sacrifices in the Old Testament, peace offerings, guilt offerings,

sin offerings, but the most important Old Testament sacrifice was called the toadah sacrifice, not the tada sacrifice. Tada in

sacrifice. Todah in Hebrew means thank you. So the toda was a sacrifice of Thanksgiving. Cardinal Ratzinger who became Pope Benedict the 16th, wrote a book called The Feast of Faith.

And in that he says, it is critical to understand the Tda sacrifice in order to understand the mass.

Now the toda or Thanksgiving sacrifice in the Old Testament presupposed a specific situation.

Let's say a person is saved from death or fatal illness or from those who sought his life.

He would then gather his family and friends

and celebrate being saved by God in a very specific way, by offering a sacrifice of Thanksgiving, which marked a new start to his life.

So you would gather your family and friends for a special meal, a

lamb would be sacrificed in the temple, and at the same time bread would be

consecrated for the meal. Then the person whose life was saved would take a cup of wine and in the presence of his friends give thanks,

explaining how the Lord saved him, and then they would eat a meal together.

So the key elements of a Todah sacrifice were a lamb that was sacrificed, Psalms of Thanksgiving would be red or sung, there would be

wine, and the consecrated bread of Todah, the bread of Thanksgiving.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow it would be your name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into

temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.
