0:19.7	Senator Baldwin has been out there fighting for our rights for a while now and she was the one who championed the respect for marriage act which called for all 50 states to recognize same-sex marriages.
0:31.0	Before we get started, I think it's important to kind of give a background
0:34.2	on the history of gay marriage in the US.

0:38.8	peeling fruit to explain. Cases were introduced in states such as Hawaii, Massachusetts, California, and same-sex marriages started to be recognizing those places.
0:58.0	However, if a couple got married in Hawaii but moved to Kentucky, for example, their marriage would not be recognized there.
