Summary

Is Israel still central to God’s plan? Pastor David Blease continues our “Let’s Go” series by sharing how God’s heart for the Jewish people echoes throughout the Scriptures and continues today. Just like male and female are united but distinct in marriage, Jew and Gentile are united in Jesus—each with a unique role. As Gentile believers, we’re called to love, honor, and point Israel back to their Messiah.

today's message. Primarily the ministry that I get to serve in is the Gateway Center for Israel,

in which most people hear that and they say, oh, because that's really all you can say to that

0:20.6

nowadays. And that's okay.

And the reason I'm here this weekend is because as we're continuing our let's go series,

0:27.6

where we're talking about sharing the love of Jesus, whether that's across the street or

0:31.3

across the ocean, there is a biblical principle called to the Jew first. And it's not just a biblical principle. It's a principle

0:39.3

that's been at the foundation of gateway since the beginning, this idea of to the Jew first and then to

0:45.0

the Gentile. It comes right out of scripture, like I said, Romans 116, where Paul says,

0:50.8

I am not ashamed of this good news about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone

0:57.4

who believes the Jew first and also the Gentile. So tonight we're going to talk, or today, sorry,

1:04.4

I'm a youth pastor. Every time I speak, it's like, it's night, right? It's Wednesday night. No,

1:07.4

it's daytime. Today we're going to talk about the principle of to the Jew

1:13.1

first, but I want to not just talk about the principle, but the heart behind the principle. So if you're

1:18.9

taking notes, the title of my message is to the Jew first, understanding the father's heart.

1:24.1

It's great to understand the principle, but it's really important to understand the

1:27.5

father's heart behind the principle. Now, I know that when we talk about something like Israel and the

1:33.6

Jewish people, that can be a politically charged and sometimes a theologically divisive issue,

1:39.3

and you might have other questions. You might have questions about, well, what's going on in Gaza

1:43.1

right now? What about the Palestinians? I thought Judaism was a different religion. I thought they

1:47.9

rejected Jesus. I thought the church was the new spiritual Israel. And they're all great questions.

1:52.8

Unfortunately, we don't have time to answer every one of them today. So I wanted to give you a resource.
