Our team has been absolutely gripped and horrified by the story of Vanessa Guillen, a soldier who back in April went missing from her base in Fort Hood, Texas.

Why did you decide to join the military?

I joined the military, just like a lot of us, Latinas, from lower income demographics.

So both of my brothers served in the military, and I had a very frank discussion with them of which service branch would be better for me.
