Hello, Dr. Laura, a long-time listener. Hi.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to answer a phone message left from my estranged aunt.

And why is she estranged as an aunt?

We had a conversation in April. My sibling, who is a son, has been out of prison for the last year, and I don't wish to speak to him. That's been my boundary. He's been in prison more than

out of prison my entire life, and I've had no contact with him.

I've had boundaries that I don't want to hear about him, and I've removed other family members from my life for that exact reason.

And he supposedly has cleaned up his life and contacted her, and she continued to talk about him.

Okay.

And you want to respond to what?

Well, she called, I guess I'll have to get more,

she called, my husband was diagnosed with cancer in April,

and our confrontation on the phone was in late April. We haven't spoken, and she called the other day, as my family does, it's like,

hi, I just wanted to hear how your husband's doing, call me back, you know, ignoring everything

else, and I just don't know if I should answer or not.
