I'm Danny Lewis for the Wall Street Journal. We exclusively report that two U.S. senators

are introducing bipartisan legislation banning digital gambling ads targeting

minors. The bill by Republican Katie Britt and Democrat Richard Blumenthal would create a federal

prohibition on ads on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Under the new legislation,

the Federal Trade Commission would enforce the provisions, and penalties could reach up to $100,000

per advertisement. The bill would exclude ads seen by wide audiences, like during sports events,

as well as any results from minors actively searching for betting content. Many states and

social media companies already have similar bans, but critics say they are ineffective and

don't have adequate punishments. French advertising company Publicist Group has agreed to purchase U.S. data platform

LiveRamp Holdings for $2.55 billion in a bid to expand its AI offerings. In an interview,

the CEO of Publicists said the deal would bring new technology to help clients build AI agents,

opening up a new market for the company.

LiveRamp enables companies in different industries to scan data across different sources

and turn them into actionable data assets.

It's Publicus's largest deal since 2019, a departure from its habit of snapping up smaller businesses since then.

And two of the largest U.S. utility companies have agreed to merge as AI and data centers drive one of the biggest upswings in customer demand in decades.
