Paramount has launched a hostile takeover

offer for Warner Brothers Discovery just days after the entertainment giant agreed to a $72 billion

deal with Netflix. Paramount said its $30 a share all-cash-offer for all of Warner would be a better

deal for shareholders than Netflix's offer, which would only cover the company's

studio and streaming business. The move could set up a messy public battle for the future of Warner's

coveted assets like HBO, Harry Potter, and DC Comics. We are exclusively reporting that IBM has

struck an $11 billion deal to acquire data infrastructure company Confluent,

as the tech giant repositions its business around artificial intelligence.

The deal would give IBM access to Confluence Real-Time Data Management tech for large

artificial intelligence models. The purchase would be IBM's biggest in recent memory.

IBM has been competing with Google, Microsoft, and a number of

startups to build computers that exceed the abilities of the best conventional ones.

And President Trump says he will sign an executive order this week seeking to punish

states imposing laws deemed restrictive for AI. That comes after Congress refused to advance

a similar measure as part of the latest draft of a military spending bill.
