Here's your afternoon TNB Tech Minute for Tuesday, September 30th. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal.

OpenAI is going head to head with TikTok and YouTube with its new SORA app, which combines social media and AI video generation.

It allows users to create short videos with audio from text prompts and insert

themselves in AI-generated scenes. Users can also watch, comment, and connect with other users.

The app will feature swipe and scroll navigation similar to other social video apps and recommendations

driven by algorithms. OpenAI set the app won't allow users under

the age of 18 to have the infinite scroll function by default in an effort to combat

doom scrolling. And a note, the journal's parent company News Corp has a content deal with

OpenAI. Corrieve has signed a $14.2 billion contract with META to provide the social media

company with AI cloud infrastructure. According to a recent filing with the Securities

and Exchange Commission, the contract will go through 2031 and META will have the option to

extend it for an additional year. It comes after Corrieve struck two other recent multi-billion dollar deals, one with OpenAI

and the other with Nvidia.

And Fubo TV's shareholders have approved a deal to combine its sports streaming service with

Disney's Hulu Plus live TV streaming service.

The deal gives Disney a roughly 70% stake in Fubo

and is subject to regulatory approvals. If approved, the combined company would be the second
