We are exclusively reporting that Stargate, the $500 billion effort to boost the U.S.'s AI ambitions,

has been sharply scaled back, just six months after its announcement.

The venture is now setting a more modest goal of building a small

data center, likely in Ohio, by the end of the year. SoftBank and OpenAI are jointly leading

Stargate, but have been at odds with each other over crucial terms of the partnership,

including where to build the sites. That's according to people familiar with the matter.

As the AI race continues, executives and financiers are now seeing a sharp interest in the number of cybersecurity companies looking to be acquired by their rivals.

AI technology requires vast resources, both in terms of cost and data, to build and train models efficiently.

Some bankers say, this is forcing companies to reconsider their futures as independent vendors.

Peter McKay is the chief executive of the Code Security Company Sneak, where he said he's seen the number of inquiries from companies looking to be acquired jump by around 20 to 25% in the past few months.

And finally, President Trump is expected to deliver a major address at a summit on winning the AI race later today. The conference is co-hosted by the All In podcast, which consists

of four tech investors and has gained influence in Silicon Valley and Washington.
