Meta has been fined roughly $100 million by Ireland's data protection

watchdog over password storage.

The Irish Data Protection Commission launched a probe in 2019 after its said meta told

officials that it had stored passwords of some Facebook users on its internal systems in plain text without

cryptographic protection or encryption. Irish officials said Meta was in breach of the European Union's

strict data privacy and security law.

A meta-spokesperson said the company took immediate action to address the issue

and that there is no evidence those passwords had been abused or accessed improperly.

A win for Amazon.

UK antitrust officials have backed off a probe of the e-commerce giant's

four billion dollar investment into AI startup anthropic.

The UK's competition and markets authorities said the investment didn't qualify for a formal

investigation because Anthropic's revenue in the country didn't meet a threshold of roughly

94 million dollars and because the combined activities of both Amazon and the startup didn't meet a certain share of goods or services threshold in the UK.
