Here's your T&B Tech Minute for Friday, March 29th. I'm Alex Osala

for the Wall Street Journal. China's Huawei Technologies says its net profit more than doubled last year,

staging a stunning comeback years after US export controls cut it off from advanced technology.

The tech giant said profit rose to $87 billion, or $12 billion, a rise of more than 140% from the same period

a year ago.

It's the largest jump in profit for the company since it started reporting comparable figures

in 2006. Revenue rose 10% to $99 billion.

It said growth was driven by higher sales in its consumer electronics and cloud computing offerings.

X-A-I, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup,

will launch an upgraded version of Grock,

its rival to Open AI's chat gp-GPT.

The company said that the latest version, Grock 1.5, will be available to early testers

and existing Grock users on X in the coming days.

By enhancing the model's reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, X-A-I said it will be better at coding and math.

And Tesla has hiked advertising spending on a variety of paid media platforms. A video ad campaign on Facebook, Instagram and X, for example, is touting Tesla's model Y as, quote,

the number one most American-made car, citing a Cars.com ranking.
