Here's your T&B Tech Minute for Monday, April 1st. I'm Alex Oscela for the Wall Street Journal. Google plans to destroy a trove of data

that reflects millions of users web browsing histories.

It's part of a settlement for a class action lawsuit that accused Google of misleading users about how Chrome tracked the activity of anyone who used the private incognito browsing option.

According to settlement details, Google has agreed to destroy billions of data points,

to update disclosures about what it collects in private browsing, and to give users the option to

disable third-party cookies in that setting. The agreement doesn't include

damages for individual users, but the settlement will allow individuals to file

claims. W.S.J reporter Aaron Mulvaney told our What's News podcast about Google's take on the settlement.

Google stands by their views that the lawsuit was meritless.

They believe that it was a win for them

because the plaintiff's attorneys originally wanted $5 billion in damages.

So they see it as a win that there isn't some massive number attached to it.

Sales for Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD jumped in March.

In the first quarter, BYD sold more than 626,000 new energy vehicles, which includes EVs and plugins, up 13% from a year earlier.

The company said that March sales surged 46% after slipping in the first two months of the year.

Investors are closely watching BYU's performance in relation to that of Tesla

whose sales growth has slowed in the past year.
