But right now, for those people who are homeless on the streets of Camden and elsewhere, tonight, what would the Labour Government do?

Immediately purchase 8,000 properties across the country to give immediate housing to those people that are currently homeless and at the same time require local authorities to build far more because the problem is homeless people, rough sleeping, beg in order to get money for a night shelter, stay in a night shelter or a short stay hostel.

Can I finish? In a hostel, by the way, discussing this issue, the problem then is move on accommodation and the problem then is not having an address in order which you can claim benefits or give a job.

Absolutely. You say build more, but at the same time, all across London and many other parts of the UK, there are a great big glossy glass towers being put up to sell flats to wealthy foreigners and they're not setting those flats are empty at the moment.

Would the Labour Government perhaps put the empty flats which are all around and the homeless people together and oblige the people who own these flats they can't sell to let homeless people into their homes?

We would give local authorities the power to take over, deliberately kept vacant properties. When you have in the middle of an area where there is a lot of housing stress, many people rough sleeping, you get some luxury, glossy, glistening, block built, sold off plan to long distant overseas investors.

Who may buy and sell it before it's even built? Well, hang on, let's look at social priorities here. Many people are homeless, many people are living in overcrowded accommodation, many middle class families, children cannot leave home because they cannot raise the deposit for a private rented flat, have no chance of buying and no chance of a council.

So I had heard recently from a strikingly lame YouTube personality that in fact socialism was not cool.

This was the comments of one of the dumbest people on the internet, one of the most craven people on the internet, one of the people sort of really set out in one of the easiest business angles imaginable, which is playing to the

resentments of young men and the desires of America's oligarchs. But let's actually talk about what socialism is and why democratic socialism is the natural politics for any type of

broad normal sane base of people and anybody who believes in a kind of broader sense of democracy, basic human decency and hope for a flourishing future for the many and not the few.

This is why essentially, as I say, if you're a normal terrestrial human, you're some version of democratic socialist. And let's talk about this a little bit.
