Well, what's hegemony?

0:15.9

Hegemony has to do with a domination of the international system by small sectors of

0:23.6

power at the moment that happens to be one superpower which does not dominate the rest

0:29.8

of the world in all dimensions, but overwhelmingly dominates it in one dimension, namely the

0:35.1

military dimension.

0:36.1

The United States now probably outspends the next maybe 25 countries in the world in

0:43.0

military expenditures and is increasing that lead and furthermore has made it extremely

0:48.8

0:54.6

force, the dimension in which it reigns supreme, and that it will tolerate no competitors.

1:16.3

1:26.5

to maximize profit, to increase control of the world and so on, you ask how those goals

1:33.9

play out, turns out they do happen to threaten survival.

1:37.8

And it's a deep problem because the decisions are not irrational within the framework of

1:43.4

the institutions in which they're being taken, but they may be utterly irrational as compared

1:49.6

with the likelihood that my grandchildren will have a world to live in.

1:54.1

So, for example, the military dimension.
