Summary

Some entrepreneurs have a secret.

Adopting a pseudonym, or a "pen name", is a common practice on the internet.

Even one of the hosts of this show, Dan Andrews, has been using a pseudonym for many years.

Some people do it because their name is difficult to pronounce, others are worried about being stalked, or because they want to improve their Google rankings.

We've also spoken to people who regret having taken a "fake identity", and believe it has started to adversely affect their lives.

In today's episode, you will hear from several entrepreneurs who have adopted pseudonyms as they share the reasons why they chose to do it, the pros and cons of taking on a pseudonym, and much more.

including me. More on this later. Pen names, especially for authors, are as old as time.

But with the growth of the internet,

1:17.1

seems to have really fueled the rise of pseudonyms. In fact, the early days of the internet were all about anonymity. It was all about creating a forum name with a weird handle and a number

after it. And these were the personas that we built online. So it's sort of naturally

1:29.3

followed in the sort of digital marketing age that so many of us have also used a persona

or a slightly altered name online. Now, this is a somewhat controversial subject I know,

and others wish in retrospect they had taken one, and some now regret ever doing it.
