Hi, everybody.

I'm Bill Whittle here with Steve Green and Scott Ott.

For those of you who are not up on the latest lingo, TLDR is Internet speak for too long,

didn't read.

And we are referencing a story now where English teachers are saying that they're going to try and

reduce the length of long and boring books in order to deal with the fact that students

have short attention spans.

And I'm looking at this sentence and I'm thinking, there's something blindingly obvious here that the English teachers of America are not completely following through and understanding, are they, Steve?

In other words, if our attention spans are too short to be able to finish a book, the answer is not to make the book shorter. The answer is to make the books

longer. Yeah, so to get a little more into the story, and a hat tip to Joanne Jacobs, she's an

education blogger who I've been reading for, I think, about as long as I've been blogging, so

got to be going back to like 2002.

She's awesome.

So Joanne Jacobs sends me these stories all the time, and I usually manage to get

them up on Instapunit.

And teachers, instead of having kids read the Great Gatsby or any of the usual Western

Siv canon books that we read that all of us had to read in junior high and high school.

They're giving them snippets.

You know, they're giving them tweets out of the books and having them in class, by the way.
