Summary

Well, hello! Today we started a bit pear-shaped (ever felt like you were pretending to be professional?) But this evolved into an interesting discussion around titles for paintings, and following the thread of work.

Both of us are developing work for upcoming exhibitions and we are finding that we have some of the same challenges, including knowing when a painting is ‘enough’ and choosing titles for our work that add a new dimension.

We also answered a listener question about how to approach pricing your artwork - and offered advice that some may find controversial (when did that ever stop us?!)

1:02.3

because actually those are often the fun ones aren't they?

1:04.4

So let's launch into that. What have you been working on this week? Are you feeling non-professional because you've been doing other things and you've got the balance wrong?

1:17.0

I think I've got the balance a little bit wrong but in a way that makes me happy because I've been painting and then painting a lot and then I came back in last night from my

1:35.0

1:38.0

which is the message in software that I use with my team.

1:42.0

And I saw there were all these messages and there were quite a few from Jamie, my assistant and the last one started with, I'm just going to add to this long list of messages by saying and then I went oh no for the last few days I forgot to check so

1:58.9

poor Jamie had been none of them were that urgent but they people have been sending me messages which I hadn't even seen because I've been so engrossed in what I'm doing.

2:08.0

So I don't I feel bad but not bad because I feel quite proud of myself that this this focus has been where I think it should be at a moment

2:17.6

but also a little bit bad because I don't like to let people down by not responding to them when they're trying to reach me so I'm trying to be a bit more

2:24.4

disciplined in the next few days about making sure at least once a day I check my messages to see what else is going on in the world

2:31.2

other than my studio. I think it's good to check things. is there an ideal time?
