Hey guys! I'm so excited to be here John. Sorry I made you laugh, I'm not. Yeah I love it. Well welcome to something new that we're doing here on Martini's in Murder.

0:24.0

Yes. Well it's our first ever tipsy crime tour. I didn't even realize we were going to say it. I didn't either just felt like the right place to do it. I love the name. I feel like we should do a shot every time we go to a new place. Oh for sure. Can you do that? Yeah. Can you handle that? You mean on this on this episode? Yeah. I don't think I can handle that Darryen. Boy you can take half your shots. Okay sounds good. Have you ever visited a city and wondered what kind of crimes and murders have gone down?

0:54.0

Because I literally do this all the time. I'm on the subway thinking about this. Me too. Well look no further everyone because we've got you covered. We'll be giving you an audio tour of your favorite cities in some of the places we found to have the most disturbing crimes. And while yes anyone can listen to this episode. This is really meant to be an episode for someone visiting and checking out New York City. Which everyone should really do because you know it's New York fucking city and I said this many times. Maybe you'll see us walking down the sidewalk. But remember guys if you're checking these places out

1:24.0

please don't trust pass as horrible a person as I am. We don't want you guys to be horrible people. Right. So please stand sidewalks be safe. Look both ways over across the street because cyclists always go the wrong way. Neither here they're there. I'm just saying. Also you're a cyclist. You just never know. You never know what you're going to see in the city. And honestly John and I really aren't going to bail you out if you get in trouble. We've done that from at too many times. So good luck. Well that's right. And while you're running around New York City

Absolutely well for this episode put on your headphones. Lace up your walking shoes and grab your subway card. We're hitting the streets of New York City as we narrate some of the creepiest and disturbing crimes that have gone down in the big apple.

2:22.8

See I wanted to walk but you wanted to take a cab John. So let's get in the cab here at 30 Rock where we're recording and head up to one West 70 second street.

2:31.5

Ah yes, let's go.

2:40.0

This location, which is situated on the west side of Central Park is where legendary Beatles member John Lennon resided with his wife, Yoko Ono and his son until he was murdered on December 8th, 1980.

2:52.3

Literally one of the saddest days I think of most of our lives. His murderer, even though we weren't alive then we can look back on it and say that his murderer Mark David Chapman was an enraged fan with schizophrenia who had a fierce liking to the classic American teen novel about alienation, the catcher and the rye.

3:10.1

Chapman actually interacted with Lenin the morning of the murder. Yeah, he spent the entire day outside watching the family exit the apartment building even shaking the hand of Lenin's five year old son.

3:20.4

Sorry, can we stop there like he's shaking the hand of his son, like such a fan doing everything like this is creepy.

3:28.8

And he even got Lenin to sign his copy of the double fantasy album. Oh my god.

3:33.3

When Lenin and Ono returned home later in the day Chapman shot Lenin four times in the back with a 38 caliber revolver.

3:40.0

Strangely enough Chapman didn't even run after the shooting. The door man disarmed him and when the police showed up Chapman was eerily reading his favorite book.

3:48.2

You know, I remember when we discussed us on Martinez and murder how like the sentiment overall was that he was pretty calm after what he did, you know, which makes it like the weirdest thing in the world.

3:57.6

Yeah, he read from this book yet again right before he received his final sentencing 20 years to life in prison.

4:04.1

He's not getting out. No, I feel like if he gets out riots will break out right. He was recently I think up for parole or something in recent years.

4:12.8

Yeah. And I think it was denied. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Right.

4:16.3

I mean, listen, we're at Central Park right now. What a beautiful building. What a beautiful location was such a tragic history.

4:24.3

You know, in their strawberry fields right across the street in some.

4:26.7

Check it out. Yeah, he's checking out. You can really sense, you know, I think Yoko's done a really good job of at least preserving his legacy and what he really brought.
