Hey everybody, welcome to the single tracks podcast. My name is Jeff and today Greg and Aaron and I are going to be talking about

0:56.6

getting and staying in shape for mountain biking. So Greg, let's start off with you. What's your

1:02.5

number one tip for getting and staying in shape for mountain biking? Ride your bike more.

1:07.2

Okay, enough said. That's all we have this week. Join us again next week for the single tracks podcast. Just kidding. Actually, there are a number of things that mountain bikers can do to improve fitness, depending on what the objective is. If it's, you know, just getting started for the first time or if you're a seasoned rider looking to take on bigger challenges.

1:29.4

Whatever the case is, there is more than you can do than just ride more. So we're going to talk

1:46.2

mountain bike fitness if you've been inactive for a while or if you've never really been active?

1:51.9

2:02.3

you're starting from. Like if you don't get off the couch and you want to start mountain biking

2:08.1

like this is something you've never done before, you might want to start off with just like

2:11.5

walking around your neighborhood like every day for a week and sort of move from there. But once you

2:17.3

start getting on the bike,

2:18.8

things like riding on the road, like really easy flat road rides, riding on a trainer inside,

2:25.7

anything can help you start to move towards real mountain biking. Yeah, that's a good point.

2:32.0

And a lot of people might say, well, I don't have a trainer. I'm not going to buy a trainer just to get started. But, you know, if you've got a gym membership or you got access to like a YMCA, you can always get in there and get on one of those stationary bikes and just start turning the pedals.

2:46.8

Yeah, and if you have a mountain bike, you can ride that on a road.
