I mean, I suppose I still am.

I was this big fan of Rachel Maddow

before she had a TV show.

She had a radio show for years

before she had a TV show.

And her radio show was very different than her TV show.

For instance, her radio show lasted three hours a day instead of the one.

A lot of TV or radio shows about the news do.

And then you sort of just kind of do at the top of the hour.

You do like five, ten minutes of news that's new for that hour or recap for that day.

And then you go on and you do other stories over your three-hour period.

Most people come in for the top of the hour, they hear the news, and then they bounce, so you know, today this happened, and then this happened, and all that.

And that's how most people who do radio news do it.

Rachel Maddow, no exception.

Rachel Maddow, however, began the top of her hour the same way, all three hours, every day,

five days a week, for years, pretty much the exact same way, where she would say, and thank you for joining us once again

and life under wartime. And it didn't really matter if her updates or the news had anything to do

with war. She was giving updates about whatever, the economy, or what happened that day, but she would

always say to life under wartime talking about Afghanistan and Iraq at the time.

And she made a point of saying that she was talking about life under wartime and this and that

so that we wouldn't forget, because it was a sacred honor, read the news, yeah, yeah, yeah.
