I'm Ellen Pompeo. Welcome to Tell Me. Today I sat down with Tinks. You may know her from that app. I

0:08.1

never post videos on called TikTok. She's a Los Angeles-based content creator. Stand for graduate

0:15.8

also. I have to throw that in there. Her most popular videos are pop culture commentaries.

0:22.4

She loves to give us an inside look at her life. I love Tinks. We had a great conversation. We had

0:27.2

a lot of fun and we talked about what hard work looks like and what success looks like and I hope

0:32.9

you enjoy our conversation. Hi Tinks. Hi. Good morning. How are you? I'm good. How are you? So we

0:48.8

have to start with like you have to tell me where Tinks comes from. It's a really funny story. When

0:55.3

I was younger, I was actually not that confident and it bothered me. I wanted so desperately to be

1:01.7

confident like the other girls. So I was home for this summer and I watched this movie. It had

1:07.4

Jason Dunton it and it's a movie that not a lot of people have seen. I think it's called Strike.

1:11.2

And anyway, in it, there's this character called Tinker Parker and she's like the coolest girl. All

1:16.5

the boys love her. So when I came back to school that fall, I told my friends, you guys, I have an

1:20.8

alter ego now and her name is Tinker Parker. And when I'm her, I'm really confident and I'll say

1:26.3

anything and they're like, okay, it was kind of my Sasha Pierce moment and slowly but surely I

1:32.2

sort of just became her. And so Tinker Parker got shortened to Tinker, which got shortened to Tinks.

1:37.4

And so now it's been my nickname for 20 years. The moral of the story is sometimes you have to

1:42.1

fake it till you make it with confidence and that really does work. I tell myself that all the time

1:48.8

and I have an alter ego too. My assistant is named her San Jalina. San Jalina, I love that. Yes,

1:54.9

because San J Gupta did the podcast and sometimes I get so overwhelmed. Yeah. And I freak out

2:03.3

and I'm like, I'm doing too much in San J. He does so many things among them like brain surgery

2:09.8

once a week. Right. No big deal. No big deal. So I was like, how do you do brain surgery?

2:15.5

Beyond TV, write books, do podcasts, and you're literally the happiest man I've ever seen.
