online magazine, The Great Discontend,

and about why in this day and age

they decided to do a print edition.

We'd always wanted to do it, and it seemed like a fun project. And we wanted to see if we could do it.

Yep. Here's Debbie Melman.

From an apartment in southeastern Michigan on a dead end road surrounded by fields and the

howls of coyotes Tina and Ryan Smaker relocated to New York City. They brought

with them a passion project, an online magazine that they've been working on in their spare time.

In their new home, the wildlife became street life, the howls were replaced by horn blasts and their magazine also changed from a side gig to a full-time project.

This project and the magazine's name, The Great Discontent.

The magazine focuses on beginnings, creativity, and risk.

They've published over 150 long-form interviews, creating a who's who in the creative world

today.

They join me now to talk about their partnership, their business, and their publication.
