Hey, cultivated listeners, happy new year. It's been a long year already. But I wanted to share a quick word about this episode, because it gives me a chance to talk a bit about where we're going in the light of where we've been. When I first launched this podcast back in 2016,

my hope was to find people doing interesting, culture-shaping work,

or important work in reflecting on and thinking about the world we live in.

And I think in large part we've done that.

I look back now on conversations I've had with people like NFL running back,

Justin Fawcett,

the novelist Brett Lott, LaCray, Miroslav Volf, and so many others, as great examples of

people who are focused on doing great work and encouraging others to be a faithful presence

wherever they are. In 2019, I was asked to consider what it might look like for me to join

the team at Christianity

today.

And I got really excited about the vision, about where things were headed, about what kinds of

creative storytelling opportunities might emerge.

So in February of last year, I joined the staff.

And in the months since then, in spite of COVID, we've been doing some work behind the

scenes that I can't wait to share with you.

Some of it's already launched.

We're producing a show called Adopting Hope, featuring Joyce Dalrymple and Sasha Parker, telling stories about adoption, foster, and spiritual mothering.
