0:03.5	And the topic of today's newsletter is going to be time wasters, digital pen pals, and pretend girlfriends.
0:11.0	Well, I've got an email from a viewer.
0:14.0	He's only recently found my work about four months ago and he had been, I guess this would really qualify as talking to a girl who was another
0:22.4	country he met during the lockdowns. And so he basically spent the whole entire past year
0:29.0	talking with this girl thinking that he's having some kind of a relationship, but he's not
0:34.9	actually meeting her in person. And then the one time about six, seven months ago, he's not actually meeting her in person.
0:42.0	And then the one time about six, seven months ago, he was supposed to meet her in person.
0:48.9	She got sick like 12, you know, a day before he says, I'll come anyways and take care of you.
0:49.8	She's like, great.
0:52.6	And then 12 hours before he's supposed to hop in the plane and be there.
0:56.7	She's my mother insisting that she's going to take care of me.
0:57.9	So now's not a good time.
1:03.4	So it's obvious she really didn't want him to come to visit.
1:06.9	She liked the attention that she was getting from him.
1:15.1	And so this continued on for many months after it, and he admits he was very needy on the phone calls and the digital dates that they were having. But at the end, she broke it off with him,
1:22.2	and then he walks away, she reaches back out. He thinks, oh, maybe there's another chance, and then he starts
1:28.1	pursuing her again, and then she says, oh, I met somebody else.
1:31.2	So this guy literally wasted 12 months of his life with somebody that he never even met, and
1:38.9	he thinks he had a relationship with her.
1:41.8	So as a guy who's dated a lot over the last 20 years women internationally,
1:48.2	there are some things that you're going to do because he met this girl on Instagram.
