I want to break protocol with this one for the second time in the last couple of months and just

throw this stuff out to open discussion, but just later you hear this stuff because I've been

doing my research kind of deep in the weeds,

and I love it. So sometime in the next couple of weeks, hopefully, we've got maybe a May 12 launch date.

We'll finally get to see SpaceX Starship Flight Test 12, but this is not your father's starship.

It's not even your second's older twin brother's

starship. Flight Test 12 will launch version 3 of both the Starship Upper Stage and the super

heavy booster. And they're doing this because they can. You know, they never worked all the

bugs out with version 2, but they learned

enough to make V3 just

even more badass than the original.

The booster is taller, carries 10%

more propellant, and thanks to the new

Raptor 3 engines, produces about 20%

more thrust. And also,

just because they can, V3

is designed for even faster reuse among some other really nifty improvements.

The Starship itself got a stretch job, carries more fuel, and the Raptor 3 engines.

Also, it's rigged for longer missions, bigger payloads, and this is a real kicker.

It's got the orbital refueling gear that will open up at least the inner solar system to human exploration.
