Hey there, it's Gary Barrett. It's Friday, November 5th, 2021. Welcome back to the CBS Sports Eye on College Basketball Podcast, where we sometimes discuss

0:40.7

camo fighting, Dodo Birds, and Leaky Black Matt, and Norlander is here with me today in anticipation of the 2021-22 season that starts in four days. We're going to focus on some big predictions, final four picks, sleep routines, so on and so forth. But before we get into that, let me remind you, especially if you're new here or back after taking off the all season, let me remind you where Norlander and I disagree on what are typically the seven best conferences in college basketball.

1:09.7

In the American, we both have Memphis winning the league over Houston. In the ACC, we both have Duke. In the Big 12, we both have Texas, which seems mildly disrespectful to Kansas. In the Big East, we both have Villanova, in the Pac-12, we both have Mitt Kronin, UCLA, Bruin.

1:24.7

So we're on the same page at the top of those five conferences, but we're not on the same page in the Big 10 or the SEC. In the Big 10, I got Michigan winning.

1:34.7

Norlanders got Purdue. In the SEC, I have Arkansas. Norlander has Alabama. So let me ask you this, deadleg. Which of those teams are you less sure of as a likely conference champion hitting into the season, Purdue or Alabama?

1:52.7

I'll give you that in just a second. But first of all, say disrespectful to Kansas, while that could well be true, as someone who had to publish his annual United States of college basketball this week, and across the great state of Texas was a big old longhorn logo instead of the reigning national champions just here. I'm here to report the Baylor fans have found me.

2:16.7

And they are not happy. This is a projection of the season ahead last year, before last season, guess what logo is there a big old BU this season.

2:29.7

So when you say disrespectful to Kansas, you just rolled up the Baylor fan base even more.

2:34.7

No, no, no, I'm Baylor knows I'm right or die. I've been I've been I've been with Baylor from the jump. You're the one that's been constantly disrespecting that program and everybody in the Drew family, including the little dog hook.

2:48.7

Who could forget hook you're not right or die right now. You're with me Texas to win the big 12. That's not right or die. Yeah, but my heart's with Baylor. Okay, my brain is with Texas, but my heart is with Baylor. My favorite thing about them in a map of the United States college, however you say it was New York being St. Bonaventure.

3:07.7

Second time in four years Syracuse fans by far the most just completely but heard over this completely, but it's by every objective measure, Bonnie's supposed to be better. I woke up this morning, I was I was I was I was just having fun with one Syracuse fan and they're like New York is a joke.

3:25.7

And so I quote tweeted it and I said, no, Steven, the joke is the fact that Syracuse let St. Bonaventure pass it by as a program and I said it's like two days ago, so I woke up, check my verified mentions and it had been favorited by which.

3:39.7

And this was not like a tweet like he saw in real time, like I don't know, I don't know how it came across it was it was all too funny. Anyway, ask your question.

3:46.7

I can't I can't work is rolling over in his grave. Okay. Former first team all American, I can work by the way, we are going to be wrong. I'm going to say this right now with the fact that we agree on five of the seven.

3:59.7

And again, if you have not listened, if you're just picking up now seasons getting ready to roll, we previewed all of these conferences, go dive in, get that goodness for you real quick and get a, you know, a deep dive on each of these leagues. But the fact that we agreed that Memphis Duke, Texas, Nova, New CLA are all going to win.

4:13.7

We are just destined to be more on one of those. But as to your specific question, who do I think is more likely that I will be wrong about. I would say.

4:24.7

I would say, Bama, I'm more confident that Purdue will win the big 10 than Alabama will win the SEC. And that's because I think produce the better team and the distance between Bama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, I've got more in Tennessee coming in a bit.

4:40.7

That just leads me there. And when we did this and kind of prep for this pod, I guess I knew but I had forgotten that we, I thought I was like, OK, we'll go over the ones that we just, you know, remind the listeners, where do we disagree on who's winning these leagues. And I thought for whatever reason we had like three or four differences.
