The chicken bet was proposed to me by one Jason Kirk of Shutdown

seemed everybody was winking at my inability to make a good bet and then the football games happened and now

I am in control of the chicken bet

Bill I looked at the vast landscape that was college football and I said,

let's go counter narrative. I don't want to do any research or look at numbers or football things

or talk to coaches. I just said, let's just be contrarian. And that really is

sort of how the chicken bet was always born. For those that you don't know the

chicken bet has been going on for like, I don't know, four or five years now where

I say something kind of stupid or naive or optimistic about a crappy program and

Jason being the scornful editor shoots it down. This whole thing started one year

where I said Cal would win five games and they did and I won

the chicken bet and then I've lost every year since then. I said that Arizona

State would be better than Arizona on the show and then we up to stakes by making it the 2018 chicken bet.
