Well, as Paul Simon once said, these are the days of miracles and wonder, and sometimes those miraculous and wonderful things are things that are here that weren't here before, and sometimes there are things that are no longer here.

And unfortunately, one of those things that are no longer here may be coming back and you'll get to what I'm talking about.

I'm Bill Whittle here with steve green and scott guys we think about you know we

we rag on social media all the time but the internet is miraculous we we're having conversation

now running businesses on the internet all of the information available to the human race is available

if you're willing to go look for it uh i i don't think i've ever been to the dentist as an adult

and not just marveled at simple things like novaakane and high-speed water-cooled electric drills and all the rest of these things.

One of the great miracles of our age, however, is something that we don't see, and that is that for the last 22 years in counting now, there has not been a crash of a major airliner in the United States

over American territory in 22 years. There's something like 40,000 flights a day. When we were

growing up, airline crashes were relatively frequent. Once a year, maybe something like that.

It was something to be worried about. We have not had an airline crash in this country in 22 years.

Now, the reason for that has been that we've changed our procedures. We finally figured out how to do it.

And honestly, it seemed to me like this may be something that is once in all of creation a permanent solution to a problem.

But I'm sad to say that this problem of

airline disasters looks like it's heading back and for reasons that are not pleasant to talk about,

but we need to talk about them. So guys, I've been keeping this under my hat for last year or so.

I've been seeing signs about this in the aviation community. It's getting to be fairly public

knowledge now. There have been in the last two years a dramatic,

and I mean dramatic increase in the number of near misses in our national transportation system.

And it has been not something that's advertised because of the times we live in,
