Summary

There has been a dramatic and alarming rise in the number of near-catastrophic collisions in what has been for 22 years the single great miracle of the modern age: the US Commercial Air Transport System, which has seen some 40,000 flights per day without a single fatality in twenty-two years among US carriers domestically. But true to form, the government is now insisting on lowering those hard-earned standards in order to promote diversity and inclusion... and unless tings change, and soon, we will once again start including diversely horrific airline crashes into our lives once again. One of the great miracles of our age, however, is something that we don't see, and that is that for the last 22 years in counting now, there has not been a crash of a major airliner in the United States

0:56.0

over American territory in 22 years. There's something like 40,000 flights a day. When we were

1:02.4

growing up, airline crashes were relatively frequent. Once a year, maybe something like that.

1:06.7

It was something to be worried about. We have not had an airline crash in this country in 22 years.

1:13.4

Now, the reason for that has been that we've changed our procedures. We finally figured out how to do it.

1:19.4

And honestly, it seemed to me like this may be something that is once in all of creation a permanent solution to a problem.

1:27.3

But I'm sad to say that this problem of

1:29.4

airline disasters looks like it's heading back and for reasons that are not pleasant to talk about,

1:33.7
