We were talking backstage about the importance of scripture.

Matthew 8.17 says that Jesus himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.

And we have reasons to be optimistic when we have the Lord reigning over our lives.

At least I would say, amen.

Eric's going to tell me to sit down and shut up in a second, so let me just say this real quick.

My mom is with us today. Mom, stand up real quick here. I just want to say when I think about living my mama's American dream.

A woman who worked 16-hour days as a nurse's aide, changing bed pans and rolling patients.

She's the person who taught me there's dignity in all work.

And in America, if you can work, get busy.

She taught me that if you're able-bodied, you work.

That is a lesson that I will never forget.

Thank you for teaching me, some of the most valuable lessons.

The other lesson she taught me was that sometimes love comes at the end of a switch.
