We have to get used to the idea that, no, in fact, we're going to help design something that other people are going to participate.

My guest today is Tim Brown, the CEO and president of the design firm IDEO.

I say design firm, but perhaps more than any other company, IDEO has expanded the

definition of what design is.

They have gotten deeply into management consulting, for example,

in an effort to get companies and organizations to incorporate what Tim Brown calls design thinking early on and at every level.

They've taken their approach to problem solving through design into unusual

arenas from banking to health care and environmentally. to

Tim Brown also has a new book out called Change by Design,

How Design Thinking Transforms Organizations

and Inspires Innovation, published by Harper Business.
