I'm Dale Johnson, and you're listening to Truth and Love, a podcast of the Association

of Certified Biblical Counselors, where we seek to provide biblical solutions to the problems

that people face.

This week on the podcast, I'm going to introduce all of you to a good friend of mine, Jeff Chang, who teaches here at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with me.

Jeff serves as the assistant professor of church history and historical theology and the

curator of the Spurgeon Library, which is one of my favorite places on campus.

He's a graduate at the University of Texas at Austin, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Most recently, he completed his Ph.D. here at Midwestern, where he wrote his dissertation on Charles Spurgeon's ecclesiology.

Prior to Midwestern, Jeff worked as a database consultant until he

discerned a call to ministry. Since leaving the business world, he has served on the ministry staff

at Houston Chinese Church in Houston, Texas, Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.,

and most recently, as associate pastor at Henson Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon. He also serves as the book review

editor for history and historical theology at the Melios, the academic journal for the Gospel

Coalition. Additionally, he writes for Nymarks and has published articles for magazines in the U.S.

and the U.K. He's also served as a speaker and instructor with T4G, Simeon Trust, and other national ministries.

Now, a few other interesting things about Dr. Jeff Chang.

He's completed the publication of the Lost Sermons of C.H. Spurgeon in conjunction with B&H Academic,

serving as the editor of volumes 5, 6 and 7.

He's also the author of the book that we're going to talk about today,

Spurgeon, the Pastor. He's married to Stephanie and they have three children. They enjoy music,

good books, working around the house, exploring the outdoors, serving their local church.
