Unless you're, say, 13 years old, you may

have never heard of one of the most valuable social media apps in the world. It's called TikTok,

and it's a video sharing platform that encourages its users to lip sync and dance to popular songs

and make short comedy videos. It claims to have more than half a billion users worldwide, and by last fall, TikTok

was being downloaded more often than any of the big-name social apps, Facebook, Instagram,

Snapchat, and even YouTube.

Like the bygone video app Vine, which let users make six-second videos, TikTok gives users 15 seconds to make videos and allows them to add clips from songs, emojis, put on stickers, that sort of thing.

Users can also paste videos together for stories that run up to a minute long.
