Summary

This week Erin and Radha regroup while Loren takes a much-deserved vacation. They do a quick review on COVID-19 with the good (100 days no new cases in New Zealand), the bad (cases in Brazil, India, and the United States continue to grow), and the ugly (long-term economic consequences in the United States, India, and Brazil). They also dig into the recent explosion and protests in Lebanon and then go deep on the recent executive order impacting TikTok and WeChat. After reminding us that Afghanistan is still a thing, they talk about the lack of accurate and comprehensive briefings for POTUS and the mayhem that ensues, including quotes (and misquotes) by Robert O'brien (yes, he's the national security advisor!). To calm us all down, they then talk about pop culture from baseball movies (The Rookie, Bull Durham) to Arthurian legend-ish TV shows (Cursed). 0:22.1

geek out. Should we just like talk about statistics the whole time? I really, I would,

0:28.2

I was really trying to think about like a measurement thing. And like, could we just go deep on like

0:32.6

COVID measures and specificity and accuracy? I went really long on COVID testing accuracy when we got back from our

0:39.5

road trip. So if anyone has follow up questions on sensitivity, specificity, and positivity rates,

0:44.5

like I have discussion points. I'll be honest. I love statistics and I've always hated

0:48.7

remembering like what the difference is between all of those things. I just don't understand why

0:53.0

every profession has a different combination of like false

0:56.2

positive, true positive, false negative, true negative, like in different ratios.

1:00.4

I'm like, can we just all agree on one set?

1:03.0

I don't care what they are.

1:04.3

It's ridiculous.

1:05.1

More importantly, Roda, what are you drinking?

1:12.3

that I ordered because yesterday I attended a beautiful virtual wedding for a colleague of mine.

1:17.8

And it was delightful. They had their wedding in their backyard in Brooklyn. They live streamed

in various groups of people. The grooms came around to the different watching rooms.

1:28.6

They had a band live stream in.

1:30.5

So if you need virtual wedding tips, you should talk to these guys because it was great.
