Today, Lauren Stoll, who directed the film for ESPN and The Undefeated, shares how making it shaped her own understanding of golf, and so much more.

Are you a golfer? Do you play golf yourself?

I do. I am a golfer, admittedly not a great golfer.

I think, you know, for me, bogey golf is good golf.

But yeah, I mean, I've been playing golf with my dad since I was 10.

Yeah, you are the child my dad wishes that he had because he tries to get me to play golf,

and I am so much worse.

Yeah.

There are lots of long-form stories and documentaries about Tiger, to be clear about that, but you're telling a different story here.

What did you want to actually tell America about Tiger Woods?

Yeah, I think, you know, what we hoped was really to approach it and to present Tiger and

Tiger mania, you know, that took place in the 90s and, you know, his epic kind of rise,

you know, to that win at Augusta in 1997, making history,

and looking at that through, you know, the prism of race, you know, and culture in America.
