As we remember from the all-two sad days after Chiefs linebacker Derek Thomas car accident,

infection is the big worry here. Tiger has open wounds, and they will require great care.

Alex Smith needed 17 surgeries and two years to recover from his leg injury and the infections

that followed. And as we know, Derek Thomas didn't make it. It's a miracle Tiger is alive,

according to doctors, and he has a long battle ahead.

Again, we were all just left stunned, and we hope and pray for a full recovery.

Today on Kevin Keatsman has issues, a conversation with an old friend about his new career.

Mike Thompson learned to forecast the weather on a Navy ship, and when they decided to broadcast

the info to the entire crew, nobody else wanted to do the

work in front of the camera and the microphone. So Mike did it. After the Navy, he was prepared for

anchoring the weather on TV, and it led to a nearly four decades long career, most of it, in Kansas

City, on KCTV and WDAF. Mike retired from television in 2019 and is now a conservative state senator

in District 10 in Kansas, the Shawnee area. He's a meteorologist and a huge believer that humans

can't really change the climate. A wonderful family man and just generally a great American,

Mike talks with us about life, his career, and making Kansas a better place to live.
