Each episode a guest comes on to play a clip of one of their jokes and then discusses

how and more importantly why they wrote it.

This week's guest is Tignitaro and to be clear this is a new interview with her.

I think it was one of the first people I ever interviewed for this podcast around 4 years

ago.

However, it was only for 30 minutes.

The podcast was new and the opportunity to get someone like Tig on, I was like, sure,

whatever length that is what the show will be.

As the interviews have gone longer on this podcast, which I'm sure you've noticed, I have

found myself wondering how much time needs to pass before an as if Tig would come on again.

I thought the episode we did was great but there's just so much about her that I find

fascinating that we weren't able to get to.

With the announcement that Tig's fully animated stand-up special drawn will be coming out

on HBO Max on July 24th, I asked and was thrilled when she accepted.

With each release, Tig always finds new ways to formally push the medium forward, so an

animated special fits into what I would consider one of the greatest stand-up careers ever.

The joke Tig and I talk about is from her 2016 special Boyish Girl Interrupted.

Besides being one of my favorite specials of the last decade, it is notable for being

her first stand-up offering after a live, the audio recording of one of the most legendary

sets in the history of comedy.
