Okay, welcome back to Tiberius episode 26.

That sounds right.

So last time in 25, Ray, we were talking about trouble, trouble and thrace.

There was trouble in the thrace.

Right.

But thank God that's all over with now.

Ooh, I, the gum. Yeah. Trouble in the Thrace.

I think it's worth pointing out that the reason there was trouble in Thrace was because the mountain people who are used to being independent and as proudful as anybody else were getting tired of being used by you know, being used by the, by the Roman,

where you're going to take our men, you're going to break them up into different legions,

you're going to send them all over the world to fight the enemies of Rome, which does fuck

all for us. So that's one way to start to cause a revolt is to by mess with the people.

Another way to cause a revolt is to rape the place dry of any kind of money or opportunity.

And as we're going to see, some of Rome's policies that have been going on for centuries

is going to have a backlash during Tiberius' time.

So again, Augustus and I think Caesar and Gaius Marius to a degree were very

sensitive about not pushing provinces too far because then they're going to revolt and you're

going to have to raise a shit ton of money to send men there. You're going to have to get men killed.

It's going to disrupt tribute coming in. So the whole thing is just a cluster fuck. But again, Rome
