In this podcast, In this video, we’re going to talk about your thyroid health. I’m going to share with you how to fix your thyroid by fixing your liver. There is a significant link between hypothyroid conditions and a fatty liver. The higher the liver enzymes, the worse the thyroid is.

80% of the conversion of T4 (the inactive thyroid hormone) to T3 (the active thyroid hormone) occurs through the liver. 20% is through the kidney. If there is kidney damage, that will also inhibit the conversion.

If you can improve the liver just a little bit, you may be able to create huge improvements in the thyroid. In the majority of cases, the root cause of a fatty liver is fructose or a high carb diet. It’s not the fat. It’s the carbs.

Natural remedies for this situation:

1. Selenium

2. Keto and intermittent fasting

3. Milk thistle

4. Choline

5. Zinc

6. Vitamin D

Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. Let's talk about how to improve your thyroid through fixing your liver.

0:48.3

And I'm talking about a fatty liver.

0:50.0

There's a huge significant link between hypothyroid conditions and a fatty liver.

0:58.1

The higher the liver enzymes are, the worse the thyroid is.

1:01.6

And I'm talking about thyroid stimulating hormone.

1:04.5

It's going to be lowered.

1:05.8

Now, what is the connection between these two organs?

1:09.1

Well, if you don't know this, 80% of the conversion from T4, which is the

1:17.0

inactive thyroid hormone, to T3, which is the active thyroid hormone, occurs through your liver.

1:24.9

So the body needs the liver to convert most of that hormone. 20% is through the kidney.

1:34.1

So if there's kidney damage, that's also going to inhibit the conversion. So if you can improve

1:39.7

the liver, just by a little bit, you're going to create huge improvements in the thyroid.

1:43.6

Now, the other thing

1:44.4

about hypothyroid conditions is that 90% of the time, it's a Hashimoto's type. That's an autoimmune

1:50.5

issue, which is different because there are antibodies against the thyroid. So you basically have the

1:56.2

immune system attacking the thyroid and that keeps it inflamed. And that's another issue too, because if the

2:02.1

thyroid is not working and you develop Hashimoto's, hypothyroidism, just the fact that you have

2:07.4

hypothyroidism, that can even contribute to a fatty liver. But in the majority of the cases,

2:13.5

the root cause of a fatty liver is either fructose or some high carb diet. It is not the fat that
