I just love the Psalms, don't you? I've enjoyed

this study so far, and it's hard to believe that we're already in Psalm 5. These are shorter

Psalms, obviously, and we are probably not going to get through the entire Psalm today, 12 verses long, but I think in two days' time,

we'll get it done. This is a Psalm of David, again, and it's to the chief musician upon

Nahilaf, which I'm told is to be played on flutes. That's interesting. So again, it's a psalm that was

intended to be sung, therefore intended to be part of the group think of the nation. We've talked

about how music so cements a message in our mind.

And I was thinking about this as well.

You know, a musician really learns twice, doesn't he?

Because the musician not only is concentrating on the song and its melody and practicing and his instrument and all of that,

but also the message itself.

And so there's a special, I think, understanding that musicians can have about the

scripture, especially when they're scripture songs.

And I think there's also something that they need to guard

against because I think sometimes the more common a message becomes in a song, the more apt we are

sometimes to sing the words without thinking about the meaning. And I think we've all done that

perhaps in singing familiar songs.
