Live from ABC News headquarters in New York City, this is Good Morning America.

And we do say good morning America on this very busy Thursday morning as we commemorate

September 11th. It has been 24 years since the attacks that killed nearly 3,000. That's a live

look at the 9-11 Memorial in downtown Manhattan. There will be gatherings there, also at the Pentagon, and in

Shanksville, Pennsylvania, to remember, to remember the victims. And we'll bring that to people

this morning. We want to get, though, right to our top story now, the search for the killer of

Charlie Kirk. No suspect is in custody right now. The 31-year-old father and husband was a leading

conservative activist who was close to President Trump.

And the shooting happened while Kirk was speaking in an event on a Utah College campus.

It is the latest in an eruption of violent attacks against political figures from the attempts

against President Trump to those against Democratic legislators in Minnesota and the Democratic

governor of Pennsylvania. how sad and how scary

that for all too many Americans, violence has become the answer to political disagreement.

The president mourning, his close ally and friend, praising Kirk of the Patriot who inspired

millions and ordered flags lowered to have staff at the White House and throughout the U.S.

in his honor. And last night, a vigil at the Utah State Capitol.
