And we are, as I've told you, in the last week of Jesus' public ministry, he is being

bombarded by various groups of people that are antagonistic to his preaching and his teaching,

to his mission, to his message. And we have already repelled the Pharisees and the Herodians

and some of the other religious leaders. And now we have a new group that is taking up theological arms against

Jesus and trying to best him in argument. And I'll give you a spoiler alert at the beginning

of the podcast. They lose. As anybody loses who tries to go toe to toe with Jesus about theology.

And let's find out how they lose here in verse number 23.

So Matthew 22 and verse 23, the Bible says the same day.

So Jesus is just back to back being attacked verbally by these groups.

And it says in verse 23, the same day came to him, the Sadducees, which say on that,

The Sadducees were the ruling class of the Jews in those days. They were a priestly class, but they really were not Bible literalists.
