But we're going to begin with the extreme weather, flash flooding and hard hit parts of New Mexico, while the threat takes aim at the I-95 corridor. Plus, some relief from the oppressive heat, and Sam is here with it all. |
1:11.6 | Good morning, Sam. |
1:12.2 | Let's tackle it all, Michael. Let's start with these images. This is crazy. Again, last night, this flash flooding in Rue Dorso. Now, this is a bad setup. This is the fourth time, by the way, we've talked about this just in July. Because of the wildfire burn scar there, every time they've been getting heavy rain that's been focused there, it's led to flooding and water rescues just like that. |
1:10.0 | Now let me show you where the new flooding threat will be today. There's a system, kind of a front that's laying across here and a lot of available moisture in the air. Water temperatures are warm at the norm along the coastline here. So this is a really bad kind of connection with this front into available moisture. This is where all of these storms, and this could be more than three inches of rain per hour sometimes. Some of these scattered storms will start by about 1 o'clock. The real deal will come after four, so it's the drive time home and go into the overnight hour, still some lingering showers tomorrow morning. I would look for street flooding here, could be river and stream flooding as well. So now that we've kind of got that handled, let's talk a little bit about the heat dome because this has been a big story all week long and really most of the summer for us. So follow the extreme heat warnings. Look at Jackson, look at Memphis right in here. This is the worst heat in the country today. A lot of orange from heat advisory. This is going to feel super hot because the humidity and the heat. Now watch this drop a little bit. As the heat dome shrinks a little bit to the south and this powerful front, the one I just told you was going to flood part of the I-95 corridor. So that's going to bring this cooler relief air all the way down through the middle of the country, the Heartland. Heartland. Just spot check Nashville here that was so warm before. Now look at where it's going into the 80s. There'll |
